A proposal for the reinvention of a Grade II* space to become a dedicated Art Gallery to attract international audiences and exhibitions. Full internal remodel and addition of more space by extending vertically and horizontally. Delivering flexible exhibition spaces, cafe, shop, learning zones, restaurant, storage bays and ancillary staff offices.
The Brief
Redesign and alteration of an exisiting landmark site which has an original Grade II* listed exterior to create a dedicated art gallery space for the city of Bristol.
The Project
Retaining the listed shell of the site. Removing all internal floor retaining exisiting structural columns, redesign of the interior floor plates and roof, insertion of additional gallery spaces as parasitic architecture. Full design of all internal spaces to include cantilevered viewing walkways.
